I have worked with Hawthorne Finished Basements on many projects as I am a subcontractor from them. They have a great process so make sure scheduling is done right. As novices to construction and renovations, the team walked us through each step, yet made it clear that they would be the ones to manage it all, and they absolutely did. This team is a well-run machine who meticulously plans and schedules each element that is required for your project, and you just have to enjoy the ride. We ended under budget and finished earlier than the promised date with the most beautiful and quality work. We finished our entire basement space, originally intending to do a partial finish due to a pervasive water issue in the back of the basement. Hawthorne knew exactly who to contact to review and fix the problem– now we have a beautiful guest room and guest bathroom and no water leakage. Hawthorne managed every subcontractor and kept the project on time. Jillian is an absolute gem of a human and a fantastic project manager– for every question we had, she provided an answer. The subcontractors Hawthorne uses are fantastic– all kind and knowledgeable in their trades. We really had the best experience and love the women who run the show. We are forever grateful for the transformation our house experienced.

We loved their weekly email updates and how they handled everything with the contractors, even making sure they had access when we weren’t home. They were respectful of our space (especially with no walk-out), patient with our loud dog, and mindful of our budget.

They added a bar, bookcase, living space, bedroom, bathroom, and flex area—and came up with creative ideas like a barn door to block noise from upstairs and a wine/bourbon wall that turned out amazing. One thing we really appreciated was that they didn’t overwhelm us with too many choices—it made decision-making easier and less stressful.

We just had our basement finished in November 2024. We had 4 different companies come in and do a bid. We chose Hawthorne because we liked what they offered and other reviews. They weren’t the cheapest or most expensive bid we received but worth it. Some highlights that were great. 1) I loved the weekly communication so we knew what what was going to happen the next week. 2) I loved the budget tracker sheet. I knew what the bids were for each trade and what the final bills were and how on target we were with the initial budget. 3) Their team helped with every step, they listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions when appropriate. We had them finish about 2/3 of our basement adding a bedroom, bathroom and a great room. If we decide to finish the rest we would definitely higher them again and would highly recommend them for your project. They are a great team to work with.
